Leather has been used to make various accessories as early as 2,200 BC - possibly even earlier than that. This may cause you to think that we are still using antiquated techniques and processes to make your custom leather accessories, but if that's the case then you couldn't be more wrong. Leather tanning methods have been updated, as have many of the other processes used in creating the leather, and here at Contrado, we use the most up-to-date technology when creating custom printed accessories.
We also stock a vegan-friendly leatherette which you can use to create your own leather bespoke accessories. Our printing methods bond the inks to the fibres of the material, which means that your print is as strong as the leather itself - the inks have even passed the Martindale Rub Test, which is used to test durability.
So why do we still use leather to make accessories? Well, if you've ever heard of the phrase "if it's not broken, don't fix it", you will understand that this is exactly why. Leather is incredibly durable; it is flexible and is available in a variety of textures, thicknesses, and levels of rigidity. This paired with our expert printing techniques is the perfect combination for creating beautiful custom leather accessories which will last for years to come.
The Nappa leather is sourced via Italian tanneries for printing and finishing in our own in-house atelier studio. This work is by hand and to order. As a full-grain, bovine-calf leather, it is graded to the highest level for print and manufacturing quality.
