Printing on Leather Products
Leather has been used to make various accessories as early as 2,200 BC - possibly even earlier than that. This may cause you to think that we are still using antiquated techniques and processes to make your handmade leather goods, but if that's the case then you couldn't be more wrong. Leather tanning methods have been updated, as have many of the other processes used in creating the leather, and here at Contrado we use the most up-to-date technology when printing on leather products.
We also stock a vegan-friendly leatherette which you can use to create your own handmade leather goods. Our printing methods bond the inks to the fibres of the material, which means that your print is as strong as the leather itself - the inks have even passed the Martindale Rub Test, which is used to test durability.
So why do we still use leather to make accessories? Well, if you've ever heard of the phrase "if it's not broken, don't fix it", you will understand that this is exactly why. Leather is incredibly durable; it is flexible and is available in a variety of textures, thicknesses, and levels of rigidity. This paired with our expert printing techniques, is the perfect combination for creating beautiful handmade leather goods which will last for years to come.
